Job Description:
Montefiore Medical Center, dominant healthcare provider for the
Bronx borough of New York City, seeks a physician to serve as
the director of the Pediatric Anesthesiology Program. An opening
for a staff position is also available. Completion of Montefiore Medical Center's new children's hospital
has lead to rapid and continuous expansion of our pediatric surgical
programs. To meet the demands imposed by more complex pediatric
surgery, including pediatric cardiac surgery, we are looking to
recruit strong leadership for this rapidly growing program.
Four
fulltime pediatric anesthesiologists, and an additional group
of four who offer pediatric anesthesia, are currently providing
services to 1,200 pediatric surgeries annually. With the continued
development of our pediatric cardiac program, we are actively
building an extensive and direct referral system from our local
hospitals. Currently, pediatric cardiac anesthesiology services
are being provided by members of our Adult Cardiac Anesthesiology
Program. However, as this program continues to grow, we would
like to develop this specialized area of anesthesiology through
our Pediatric Program, ultimately developing an accredited Pediatric
Fellowship Program that would include fellowship training in pediatric
cardiac anesthesiology. The program supports a broad tertiary care practice that includes
cardiac and liver transplantation and has the distinction of providing
anesthesia services for the first successful separation of craniopagus
conjoined twins. The program is actively engaged in research
(both clinical and basic science), affording a busy and challenging
practice environment, and serves as the academic department of
anesthesiology for Albert Einstein College of Medicine. We offer a very competitive salary, commensurate with experience,

income, earned through call. The successful candidate will be at the associate or professorial
level and have significant experienced in pediatric anesthesiology
and pediatric cardiac anesthesiology and possess the leadership
and administrative skills necessary to successfully increase the
group's academic activities, improve / enhance the educational
program, bring new and innovative methods to the practice, and
develop the pediatric cardiac anesthesiology program. Ideally,
we are seeking someone who would like to help develop the careers
of others and who gains satisfaction by developing both people
and programs.
