Ochsner Health System, a not-for-profit multi-specialty healthcaredelivery system dedicated to patient care, research and educationseeks a board certified cardiologist with advanced training inheart failure/cardiac transplantation due to growth. Candidatesmust be UNOS qualified. Join Hector Ventura, MD, internationally-recognizedtransplant cardiologist and Associate Editor for Congestive HeartFailure and Hamang Patel, MD in the Ochsner Health System's autonomousDepartment of Cardiology. The physician's time will be dedicatedto the heart failure/cardiac transplant service (i.e., attendingand clinic duties). Flexibility exists with the physician's timeand can be spent conducting clinical trials/research, teachingfellows, and pursuing other cardiology subspecialties of interest. Leadership opportunity exists for candidates with demonstratedexperience in the areas of heart failure, cardiac transplantation,or pulmonary hypertension.

In addition,your patients will benefit from innovative services such as homedobutamine infusion, outpatient infusion suites, a heart failureclinic, an emergency department observation unit, a rehabilitationprogram for patients with heart failure, and a left ventriculardevice program. In addition, through the advanced heart failureprogram's participation in investigational drug and device protocols,patients have access to the state-of-the-art in medical and mechanical"bridges" to transplantation. Started in the early '80's, thecardiac transplant program does 15-30 transplants per year and25 patients are on the waiting list pending organ availability. Total transplant volume is approximately 700 patients. Today,the Ochsner Heart and Vascular Institute has two funded fourth-yearheart failure/transplant fellowship positions.
The physician will be based at the Ochsner Medical Center - NewOrleans (Main Campus), a 473-bed acute care hospital, named asa US News and World Report Best Hospital.Ochsner Health System was named to the American Hospital Association's"Most Wired" list for the past four years!
